Big Data. Big Insight.
Delivering Actionable Insights
While every public media station is unique, no station exists in a vacuum. Everyone is subject to the same overall principles of fundraising and the same changes in the landscape of donor behavior.
To ensure that you can adapt to these changes and hit your fundraising goals, you need to be able to efficiently identify opportunities that will really move the needle to optimize your team’s performance.
CDP brings together donor data from stations across the public media system and standardizes it. Our data scientists, deeply experienced in fundraising and public media, combine that data with powerful analytics and visualization technology using additional insights into donor behavior from PBS and our other data partners.
As a result, we can offer data and reporting tools specifically targeted to your needs, delivering opportunities for action tailored to your station and a team that can help answer your most pressing questions.
It All Starts With a Revenue Opportunity and Action Report (ROAR)
For over a decade, CDP has been helping stations identify fundraising opportunities by publishing system benchmarks across 30 of the most relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and comparing those results with an individual station’s performance in our Revenue Opportunity & Action Report—the ROAR. These benchmarks are targeted specifically for public media stations and generated using data from nearly 200 stations across the system—TV and radio, large and small.
Ready to Start Using ROAR?
To get the benefits of the ROAR, all you need to do is submit your station’s fundraising data to CDP’s National Reference File. The National Reference File, or NRF, is a standardized layout for donor and giving data that maps individual station information into one common set of values. If your donor database already helps other client stations submit data to the NRF, they may be able to help you submit your data, too.

Got PBS Passport Streaming Data?
Alongside CDP’s ROAR reports, you can also gain important fundraising insights through Passport Viewership reports specific to your station’s donors. These will allow you to uncover viewing preferences that can inform fundraising and donor engagement strategies. To get the benefits of these reports, all you need to do is provide permission for CDP to access to your station’s MVault (eligibility) and VPPA (viewership) data through PBS.
